Where are the nicer communities in the suburbs West of Phoenix?
Young small family looking for a home <300K (min 3 bed 2 ba). Willing to pay for an HOA, and a gated community, mainly want a good clean neighborhood with good surroundings (ie don’t want to be picking up neighbors beer bottles, or kept up all nite). Have a young family and just want a nice clean family community in the area east of Phoenix (Buckeye, Goodyear, etc.)

I live in Glendale, right near the Peoria boarder and I can’t imagine living anywhere else. My mom lives a few miles west in Peoria and she really likes her neighborhood also.
You really need to check out the schools and school districts. It took us 6 months of research to decide where we wanted to live (turns out I’m living 1/2 from where I grew up). Unfortunately some areas of Phoenix have really bad schools.
There are several options. If you want to go really far West there is Verado. It is really nice but it is a ways out there. If you want to be not so far west there is Glendale and Peoria. There are a lot of nice communitys out there. If you drive out Northwest to Lake Pleasant road you could get a new build home for around 300K. You may be able to find a gated community. Also at like 67th ave and Jomax they have gated communities all over there and good schools. If you go up the I- 17 to Tremanto you can find homes for that price. they also have communties with pools and parks very children friendly The only thing though the traffic is bad getting in and out. You have a lot of options. Right now is the perfect time to buy to. There are so many homes for sale in all of those areas. You should find a great deal!
I think Gilbert is a very nice city. Stay away from Mesa!
I think Goodyear is the best choice for west valley cities. There’s a new mall being built and a new Spring training stadium. Not sure about your price. Good time to buy though.
Good luck!
Goodyear is west of Phoenix. Look in the Laveen area that is good.
As a REALTOR, I may not by law, i.e. Fair Housing tell you what areas are nice or not. I can tell you that finding a home in a gated community is not as hard as others may have said. And if you plan on spending $300,000 or more you will get a nice home for that price. New homes are selling for less than you are looking to spend. In the end it is up to you what a nice or bad neighborhood really is. It may also interest you to research what schools you want to live near if you have children or plan to have any.
Good luck finding something in a gated community for 300k. Most gated communities in the Phoenix area are found around apartment complexes and houses that range from around 500k and up. Even in the distant suburb areas. Your best bet is a place like Glendale which is nice because it still not tremendously far from the city and its growing like crazy with the installment of two new stadiums.
Have you seen the Verrado website? I think it is the neatest looking place but we’re in Scottsdale & unwilling to go so far West. Check out their site, it really is a VERY intriguing development, VERY nicely priced too. It’s Buckeye area.
I grew up in North Glendale – places like Arrowhead Lakes might appeal to you.
Avondale, Goodyear and Surprise are nice.
I suggest staying north of the I-10 freeway.
North West – Peoria & Glendale.
It all just depends. We have good and bad in alot of places. Both of those are nice. Many towns on the west side are doing alot to spruce up their image. Laveen is to the south of Phx., and Anthem is to the north. You have to remember the houses are going up faster than the services (hospitals, fire dept.) You may still find yourself coming into Phx for somethings. Ask a real estate agent about these things. Welcome to the Valley.
New River or better now knowen as Anthem. You could live in their Country Club, which is many very nice family homes and the homes are quite large and and it is a gated community which includes no solicitors also. I know many people in the country club and most people are not allowed into the country club before 7 am or 8 am with the exception of busses and waste trucks and mail trucks
