Do you think the LDS church does enough to work with concerned neighborhoods?
Non-Mormons, how would you feel about having an LDS temple built in your neighborhood?
How do LDS temples effect property values? (Since property values were sky rocketing until recently please don’t use raw numbers because they are deceiving, I am more interested in how property values change relative to comparables).
Would LDS temples bother you less if they were built in industrial or commercial areas?

Would you rather have a man who is upholding the law and respectable speak to your children or a racist from la raza or any other group that advocates for illegal alien criminals?
If la raza were to speak at your school, would you allow your children to attend? I sure would NOT!

PHOENIX – Phoenix Police arrested a man on a disorderly conduct charge during a protest against Sheriff Joe Arpaio Thursday.
The community rally gathered more than 200 protestors at Manzanita Elementary School as Arpaio spoke. The group said they were complaining because Arpaio is a bad influence on children and dividing their neighborhood.
Abraham Hernandez was one of the protesters who attended but was reportedly denied access to the meeting area by school security and was told by police to leave the property.
Police reported that Hernandez was “using obscenities and acting in a menacing manner."
Officers asked Hernandez to cease using profanity because there were families and children present at the school.
Hernandez was arrested after he reportedly did not comply with police requests to stop.
As a teacher and a parent, I find this disturbing. My children would have refused to take part thankfully.

My property manager told me that the window glass was damaged, probably kids in the neighborhood throw the rocks. From the picture she sent to me there is a big hole.
In this case, should I pay the cost to replace the window?
It a double pane window, how much roughly to replace the glass in Phoenix, AZ?
Thanks a lot

To the Phoenix residents. I’m a Californian, just got out of a long term relationship and have been planning on Re-Locating to the Phoenix area before the year 2011 ends. I’ve been there to check it out and I definitely see myself making a new life out there for myself. I’m looking to purchase a home, BUT, will most likely rent out first, just to make sure I have enough time to make the right decision in the area I would like to purchase a home. I live in a "Cookie-Cutter" home in California, and will most likely be looking for the same style there, BUT, I’m also into the old vintage type, dessert style homes, smaller with enough room for just me. I’m also looking for a SAFE neighborhood, because my job requires extensive traveling and I won’t be home for weeks at a time. Where would you suggest? I would love to hear from the residents there!!!
Don’t forget to state why you would suggest the area too, please. Thanks.

I was wondering if adding a pool to my home is a good idea.
I live 20 minutes outside of Phoenix, AZ where its already hitting 100 degrees. I have owned my house since August of last year. My house has lost its value by about 30-50% but I don’t plan on selling the house so I will get my money back eventually. Being how I don’t have equity in my house, I will have to get unsecured line of credit, which could be a problem because of interest rates on the loans. Anyway, does adding a pool add to the value of the home? Is it a smart financial investment (long term)? If I spend 25k adding a pool, I will have 175k total financed but my house used to sell for over 215k when the market was around.
My wife and I would really like to have a pool. As for heating a pool, I don’t think we would need to heat it because we live in Phoenix, Az.
Oh yeah, other homes in my area do not have pools. Of course there are some with pools, but most do not. This partially because the neighborhood is new and people don’t have equity these days for financing.

I am a 57 yo male with allergies and my Dr has suggested Az as a place to move for my health. I am disabled and work from home. I do drive and my only physical exercise is walking so I would like a safe neighborhood to walk or one with a park close by that would be safe to walk in.

I’ll be moving to the Phoenix metro area next year and would like to be within 45 minutes of Sun Lakes/Chandler (where I have family); however, I am most interested in an area that is dog-friendly (e.g. has parks and things to do, dog-friendly restaurants, dog stores, dog groomers, etc).
I am also looking for a very safe neighborhood and would like to spend between ,000-,000/month to rent a home/townhouse.
Any specific suggestions?
Thanks!

the Mexican drug cartels? Mexico City has the highest rate. These people torture their victims, cut off hands, feet, and heads. Would you want them in your neighborhood? Its time to think about safety even if some feel profiled. I have to provide 3 forms of ID to renew my drivers license, 2 forms to pay my property tax, 2 forms if I get pulled over for any reason and I’m caucasian. What is the problem here?
I don’t live in AZ.
I also have to have ID to vote.
I stated the question that way because people are accusing AZ of racism with their new law when it has to do with protecting all citizens from the drug cartels which originate in Mexico.
"Mexican" refers to citizens of Mexico, not a race. You know, like Americans. One of my best friends is from Mexico and she calls herself Inca. I’m aware that Mexico is diverse. The point of the question is not race. The point is the US can’t continue to allow the situation of violence to continue. What if your home was broken into in the middle of the night and you were kidnapped, beaten, tortured, and held for ransom? How would you feel? Wouldn’t you want it stopped NOW if you lived in an area where this was commonplace? Many of the people who are kidnapped are also of Hispanic descent. Can you even imagine this going on daily in the city where you live? For years?

Young small family looking for a home <300K (min 3 bed 2 ba). Willing to pay for an HOA, and a gated community, mainly want a good clean neighborhood with good surroundings (ie don’t want to be picking up neighbors beer bottles, or kept up all nite). Have a young family and just want a nice clean family community in the area east of Phoenix (Buckeye, Goodyear, etc.)

I bought a house outside of Phoenix, AZ almost two years ago, thinking I was getting a good deal. The house was originally 0K and we bought it for 7K. Most similar-sized homes in our neighborhood are selling for about – 85K right now, and we have paid maybe 00 off of our mortgage (30 yr 6% fixed). We had to file bankruptcy a few months ago (lay-offs, etc.) so my credit is already ruined for several years, so I am thinking that maybe I should let my house foreclose now instead of dealing with it later. I just know that we don’t want to live here for a really long time and if we decide to move, won’t we be so upside-down still that we will wind up foreclosing anyway? I highly doubt the value will ever go up to what we paid for it again. What are our options? We can afford our payment since we filed bankruptcy, although it is a large % of our income. And we are current on our mortgage. Do you have to pay the deficiency balance after it forecloses?
