we live in the lansing michigan area…we pay 5 a month for our heat and water to be "included"…the 6 unit building has a boiler that pushes the steam to the radiators…at times it gets over 90 degrees in our place…all the 6 units get extremely hot as well…we have to have our window open even in the middle of the night when it is -28 degrees to get the heat down to 79 degrees…the landlord will not do anything about it and tell us that we are lying…well, a few times this winter season the radiators will be off for 2-3 days making it very cold in here…i can’t prove it, but i think the "slumlord" gets tired of people saying it is too hot in here and comes and just shuts of the boiler to "teach us a lesson!?!?"…well, we woke up yesterday and our little thermometer we bought said it was 44 degrees in the apartment…i was on my last straw…there are no agencies in this area to help the tennent…i called the fire dept to talk to the building inspecters…they said they could send him a letter to keep the minimum temp to 68…well, that would take days and that wouldn’t mean the landlord would still take care of it…as a last resort i called the city police dpt…they sent an officer…at first he told me that it was a civil matter…i told him everything and he decided to do something…he called the people he knew at the fire dpt/inspectors…they agreed to call the landlord…they basicly told him that he will have to maintain the minimum temp, or they will start writting him tickets for whatever violations that come up on the property…wow!!!…well, the landlord of course got the heat going, but now it is back to 90 degrees in here…i was alread told by the inspectors that there is nothing in the books about the temp being too hot in a apartment in michigan…so it could be 115 degrees in here and the landlord is ok as far as the law goes…ok-my question is if there is anything we can do to get the heat down due to health reasons?…i have uncontrollable high blood pressure for which i am on meds for…when i am in very uncomfortable heat it sky rockets…(i moved back to michigan from phoenix arizona to be in a cooler climate)…do i just have to risk a stroke and heart attack and just feel sick all the time?…it seems like there is something that can be done!?!?…
the first answer i get is "move out"…lol…so break the lease?…ruin our credit?…be out of luck for all the money it costs to get into a new place-deposits, utilities, moving expenses, lose out on the money we spent fixing the place up for a few months of living here?…tell me this-how does one come up with all the money for a move to a new place a few months later when all the money we had went to this move just a few months ago…come on now…why do people on here give stupid short answers?…is it to get more points?…can’t you be a competetive point gatherer some place else…i think this is a forum that should be a place for people to help each other…please stop with the childish bull stinking crap!!!…

I’m from the East coast and have never even seen a scorpion or tarantula other than in a pet store or the zoo. I’ve heard that people can get them in their homes out in AZ. I’m moving to an apartment in North Phoenix. I suddenly became terrified of the possibility of finding one of them in my apartment.

What are the chances this would really happen? If it does happen, what do I do? I think I would freak out. Also, my cat loves to chase bugs and centipedes. Should I worry about her getting stung/bitten?

Practice Parallel Parking in Phoenix, Arizona?

I want to try and get my license soon, and even though I have been driving for many months now, I don’t have any experience with parallel parking. I haven’t really found any places that have parallel parking, and living in an apartment complex I can’t practice at home.

Are there any places in the Phoenix area where I could get in some good parallel parking practice? It’s the only thing I really need to work on. Thanks in advance!

Is this why we need an increase in low income housing in our wonderful stimulus bill?

PHOENIX — A loophole in federal law is enabling hundreds of illegal immigrants to live in homes subsidized by U.S. taxpayers, while thousands of others linger on waiting lists to get into those same units.
Those waiting lists are so long that most of them have been frozen for years, meaning people can’t even submit an application for public housing. In Arizona, hundreds of those units are occupied by people who aren’t even U.S. citizens.
The Salazar family has lived in a four-bedroom Phoenix public housing apartment for the past six years — all 10 of them.
Their rent is only 0 a month and subsidized by the U.S. government, even though both parents are illegal immigrants

is it OK for a corgi to live in an apartment?

it’s a conflict. my mom says no corgi until we move into a house from our current apartment, either summer 07 or 08, depending on house prices in Phoenix over the summer. i figure that I’m a very responsible person, and because a corgi is a small dog, I can keep one in an apartment. Even better, our apartment is very clean, and we are always getting compliments on that. it’s a very nice sized apartment, a two bedroom, but the bedrooms are the size a medium-large living room. I think it’s a very nice place to have a dog, and honestly, our next door neighbor has a rottweiler and a boxer. I would really like to know if i was right or wrong.

My fiance and I are getting married in May, and graduating in December.

Let’s pretend we get offered jobs in another state and relocate. We’re thinking Phoenix, AZ. (currently located in Ohio).

Let’s say neither of these jobs offers to help pay moving costs or any part of a down payment (as some jobs do!).

Question**
Should we look into buying a house right away (since the housing in Phoenix is ridiculously cheap right now and you can get a fab house for 100K) OR should we stay in an apartment for a year when we move?
We won’t have A LOT saved up when we move. Enough for a smaller down payment though. Did you buy a house right away and wished you had lived in an apartment for a while to save?

Any advice? Is it smart to wait a year before getting into a house? Pointless considering the great deals right now in AZ? Help!

I’m 17 and want to move out when I’m 18. I live near Phoenix.

Do you think it’s better to rent a bedroom & bathroom in someone’s house or to get an apartment?

My husband and I are thinking about moving to phoenix and I don’t know which area would be the best area to find an apartment to rent. He is a firemen/emt and we would not buy a house to start off with. Have any suggestions on the area?

We are moving to Phoenix from florida, and our house will be ready on August 1st, but were moving out there on July 1st, and we dont want to spend too much money, are there any really cheap motels out there? I have done alot of research online, but the cheapest i have found was 45 dollars a day. Either an apartment that allows month to month leases or anything really, just need somewhere to crash for a month. Please help! 5 stars to whoever finds me the best deal!

i live in an apartment in Phoenix and i pay 5.00 per month (one bedroom) i think that’s pretty cheap for housing, I’m curious as to what other people shell out every month for there home, every city has different cost of living so list your city as well if you don’t mind.
