Estimated cost of adding a 12×12 room onto house in Phoenix, AZ?
I am considering adding an extra room onto the back of my house. The room would be roughly 12 x 12 feet with a couple of windows. It would need electrical wiring, but not plumbing. I would like to have it extend off the master bedroom into the backyard (I plan to use it as an office). The house was built in the late 90s and is wood frame with stucco exterior and a spanish tile roof.
Has anybody in the Phoenix area ever done an extension to their home of this sort? Approximately how much would such an additional room cost and how long would it take to do?

Your probably looking at somewhere from $100 to $150 per square foot if your looking to hire it all out to a G.C. If you can do some of the work yourself then, of coarse, you’ll save a little on the overall cost of the build. Typically most additions will have supplemental heating & air to help lower the cost of upgrading the exiting HVAC system. You will have to consider the area codes regarding the exterior of the addition. Some local building codes and/or neighborhood bylaws will require you to match the existing veener. You will also have to consider the age of the existing roof (are you going to do a complete re-roof), the amount of electrical service thats feeding the existing house and then there’s the easements and underground utilities. All of these and many more items have to be studied and answered priior to developing an exact estimate for the remodel.
Good Luck!!!
$50.00 to $125.00 a square foot
i am in the Texas area and if you go with stucco i would try a complimenting color if you try to mach it i will look different and the Spanish tile roof will cost you too..also when getting bids make sure to add outlets code only requires one on each wall and if you are using it as an office you would want more. and remember Internet lines too…and lighting, and cooling just thoughts that will effect your cost you are looking at an upper cost like $120 a foot so in the $18,000 mark well hope i helped
