PHOENIX – Phoenix police and the Department of Public Safety are investigating the discovery of a drop house in southwest Phoenix.
DPS spokesman Bart Graves says that Phoenix police followed a suspicious-looking Chevrolet pickup truck with a large piece of plywood in the truck bed — smugglers often use plywood to hide people in truck beds.
The driver and another occupant were heading to a house in a newer Phoenix neighborhood near 83rd Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road.
When police pulled up, the two men in the truck took off on foot and were caught a few moments later. Police found 44 men and 7 women being held inside the house. A total of 53 people were detained.
They were described as thirsty but in relatively good shape. The conditions of the house were deplorable.
DPS Lt. Fred Zumbo says there was no furniture in the house, there was rotten food inside, and they were fighting over water. "They may actually be happy to be rescued, because of the fact the conditions were so poor… maybe they were being held against their will, maybe they were threatened."
The group doesn’t appear to have been inside the U.S. for very long. They are reportedly from Guatemala.
DPS says that smugglers are charging people anywhere between ,000 and ,000 to bring a person from Guatemala over the border to the U.S.

I am looking for a property manager for a rental home located in North Phoenix. All of the ones I have found require 1 month’s rent as a finders fee for a new tenant, then a 6-8% fee per month. I am hoping to find a company that charges lower fees, and no extra finders fee for a new tenant. This is the case the the company I am using for another renal of mine in Bakersfield, CA. Anyone have a referral?

Unbelieveable…. I’m envisioning pizza boxes stacked up until she returns. She didn’t even lay out my vitamins for tomorrow morning…. hmmm…. follow up question… Does she deserve corner time? or a spanking for her unthoughtfulness and insensitivity?
How is it that you have a problem with consentual slavery? I’m a Master, and I have a consentual slave. You’re being rather judgemental about my lifestyle… don’t you think? c’mon… where’s all that "tolerance" talk that I hear about from the liberals…. TOLERATE ME AND MY SLAVE….
It’s SOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooo nice to be back among friends…

I was reading an article on a news site where a blogger put this, "Here in Phoenix the banks are selling the loans at $.40 on the dollar. The investors then reduce the principal on the loan and the home owner stays in the house with a good loan. The investor makes a 50% return on their money in 90 days and does it again." I would like to be able to do this to help homeowners in distress as well as make some cash, does anyone know how I can get started. Thanks

House has original wood floors that I want to protect before I transition the cooling system from A/C to swamp. I’ve heard polyurethane works.

I have a 1950s record player console that needs to be repaired. One of the speakers "buzzes" in and out. It’s either a loose connection or a faulty connection somewhere on the circuit board. But it’s too heavy (3ft X 1ft) to life and move w/o some plan of where I’m going with it. Would love to get it fixed. Houses a Magnavox Stereophonic radio and record player. New to Phoenix Metro area, so please help!
